Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced today during a live webcase of Disney’s fourth quarter financials that the highly anticipated streaming service will be called Disney+. Disney+ (plus) is scheduled to launch late 2019 in the United States.
Igor also announced two more original content programs that will stream on Disney+. A new live-action Star Wars series based on the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the early years of the Rebellion. This will take place on the Star Wars timeline prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Igor also confirmed that a new live-action series based on the Marvel character Loki will also be in production for Disney’s new streaming service.
These new announcements add to the anticipation of the Disney streaming service, Disney+, heading our way late next year.
