Walt Disney World’s new 270 acre solar farm is now online. You won’t believe how much solar energy this facility can produce!
The Walt Disney Companies efforts to reduce 50% of its emissions by 2020 compared to 2012 is well under way. The new solar facility boasts over 500,000 solar panels which is enough to harness enough of the sun’s energy to power two of the four theme parks at Disney World! The 50-megawatt facility joins the well-known 5-megawatt facility that is famously shaped like a giant Mickey that was built in 2016. Check out the time-lapse video below that showcases the construction of the new farm.
The new solar facility is located near Disney’s Animal Kingdom along State Road 429 just west of the Magnolia and Palm golf courses. Are you happy with The Walt Disney Companies efforts to reduce emissions? Talk about it in our all-new WDW Kingdom Disney Forums!
