Ever since the re-imagined “UP! A Great Bird Adventure.” bird show opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this past April something was missing. Disney announced today that “Kevin” will be joining the rest of the Disney – Pixar’s Up cast soon.
For those of you that have been to the new version of “UP! A Great Bird Adventure”, formally “Flights of Wonder”, in the Asia area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom you may have thought that Disney was missing out. Missing out at what you ask? Including the most obvious character from Up that SHOULD be in the show, Kevin. Kevin is the elusive 13 foot tall tropical bird that was discovered by Russel, she also loves chocolate. Now, Kevin is a not a real species of bird but this is a real bird show built around a story using Up characters. She should be a part of the show and now she is!
The show originally did not receive great reviews from guests but this might be the piece of the puzzle that turns this into a must do at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It will be interesting how they bring Kevin into the story. Currently Russel briefly talks about him and a painting is placed on the wall. I personally cannot wait to see how the story evolves. As of now Disney just stated that the character will only be in the show and nothing about meeting guests. We will keep you updated if this changes.
