Marvel has the honor of kicking off the 2019 movie season for Disney with the release of Captain Marvel. When Earth finds itself in the middle of a galactic war the outcome relies on the Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) played by Brie Larson as the powerful superhero to come to the rescue. This female-led superhero film hits theaters on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019.
The highly anticipated live-action remake of Dumbo directed by Tim Burton is the second Disney film to hit theaters in 2019. The film is based on the 1941 animated classic and is sure to bring out the emotions in everyone. Dumbo hits theaters on March 29, 2019.
Avengers 4 (currently untitled) is the follow-up to the 2018 Avengers: Infinity War. The next Avengers installment will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
Another highly anticipated live-action remake hitting theaters in 2019 is Aladdin. The remake of the 1992 animated classic stars Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Will Smith as the Genie. Aladdin hits theaters on May 24, 2019.
The fourth installment to the popular Pixar Toy Story franchise hits theaters in time for the Summer. Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep and more are back for an all-new adventure! Toy Story 4 hits theaters on June 21, 2019.
The Lion King returns to theaters in 2019 with a remake of the 1994 animated classic. The live-action (cgi) The Lion King is directed by John Favreau (The Jungle Book) and stars Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones returns as the voice of Mufasa. The Lion King hits theaters on July 19, 2019.
Artemis Fowl is a fantasy adventure film based on the first two books by author Eoin Colfer. Follow the adventure of Artemis, the child criminal mastermind who captures the fairy LEPrecon officer in an attempt to harness her powers. The children’s fantasy series turned big screen production hits theaters August 9, 2019.
Frozen 2 hits theaters on November 22, 2019.
Lucusfilm ends the theatrical releases for Disney in 2019 with Star Wars: Episode 9. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams returns to lead the vision of the next installment of the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars: Episode 9 hits theaters December 20, 2019
