Walt Disney World Increases Food And Beverage Prices As New Fiscal Year Begins

If you are heading to the Walt Disney World Resort any time soon you will certainly notice the increase in food and beverage prices.  If you are a Walt Disney Company stock holder or are just aware of the fiscal timeline of the company then you know the new fiscal year begins on October 1.  This typically means the dreaded price increase.  This October is no different when it comes to price hikes and in some cases you will see upwards of 20% increases on food and beverage items.

How much more will you be paying for dining at Walt Disney World?  We are currently updating all of our menus on WDWKingdom.com and have had the chance to analyze the price increases a bit and we wanted to share a few of the more popular menu items.

Let’s head on over to Casey’s Corner to compare previous menu with current menu.  The first thing we noticed is that a lot (not all) of the menu items have had an increase in price.  Most of the hot dog offerings have increased by $.50 – $1.00  (avg 8%) while just a few of the snack offerings increased in price.  Where we noticed the largest average jump was in the beverage category.  The assorted fountain drinks increased from $3.29 to $3.99 (21% increase), coffee increased from $2.79 to $3.29 (18% increase), Dasani Water increased from $3.00 to $3.50 (17% increase), SmartWater increased from $4.50 to $5.50 (22% increase) and Minute Maid Apple Juice from $3.29 to $3.99 (21% increase).  These are just a few examples we found.  The beverages are also resort wide so expect to see those prices everywhere you go.

How about Walt Disney World snacks?  We found the Mickey shaped pretzel to have increased by .90.  You will now pay $6.59 instead of $5.69 for that tasty treat.  If the famous Pineapple Dole Whip Float is your go to snack, expect to pay $5.99 instead of $5.49 for the amazingness.  With that said, there are still many items that did not see any increase at all.

So what does all of this mean to you?  It might mean putting a little extra money aside or it might mean skipping a snack to two that you might normally have splurged on.  It also sway you into doing something Disney does not want you to do which is go off site for dining.  We want to know what your thoughts are on this topic.  Share your thoughts on our all-new WDW Kingdom Forums!
