A couple of months ago the Walt Disney World Resort unveiled a pilot digital key feature program that allowed you to use your phone to unlock your resort room door. This was originally tested at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and it sounds like it was a success.
Disney announced today that guests staying at any Walt Disney World Resort will now be able to use the digital key feature in the My Disney Experience App to open their resort room door as well as the resort entrance gate and common area doors requiring a key, which may include fitness centers, elevators and club level lounges. Guests must have a Bluetooth®-enabled phone and have the My Disney Experience app downloaded to use this feature.
So how does the digital key feature in the My Disney Experience app work? Simply open up the My Disney Experience app, tap the Unlock Door icon and agree to the fine print. This will activate the Bluetooth® connection and you will be prompted to hold your phone near the lock. A little Disney ‘Magic’ happens next with a little pixie dust sound the door magically opens.
This is just one of the many new features on the My Disney Experience app including bus times, mobile food order and even checking into your resort, that will enhance your Walt Disney World Resort stay.
Will you be using this new digital key feature in the My Disney Experience app to open up your resort room door or will you stick with the MagicBand? Talk about it in our all-new WDW Kingdom Forums!
