Disney announced today that the popular Minnie Van transportation service at the Walt Disney World Resort is now open to anyone that is on property. Previously, the transportation service, powered by Lyft, was only available to and from specific locations. Even though it has been around for almost a year, it was still considered a test. Now it is open to all visiting the Walt Disney World Resort.
What is the Minnie Van service at Walt Disney World? The service is essentially just like any ride sharing service, think Uber, Lyft or even a taxi. The one big difference, the vans have been Disneyfied! The Minnie Vans are really Chevrolet Traverse SUVs that have cute polka dot details on the outside. The service is powered by Lyft and you do need to download the Lyft mobile application to call for a van. It is simple to use. Just open the application while you are on Walt Disney World property and select the Minnie Van service option. You must next confirm your current pickup location. Enter your Walt Disney World destination and tap “Request”. The app will show you a map and location of your Minnie Van as well as a corresponding van number. Each van can accommodate up to 6 guests and they do have 2 car seats. Keep in mind, it will only work while you are on property and you cannot call for a Minnie Van from New York. Payment is made through the Lyft application. Cost for the Minnie Van service is $25 and is available between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. (Hours subject to change.)
Yes, it is a bit costly but it is a very convenient way to get somewhere fast on property. We have all been stuck at the end of the night waiting a long time for our bus or we are running late for a dining reservation. This gives you the option to get somewhere relatively quickly. The Minnie Van drivers are actual Walt Disney World Cast Members, so always expect that Disney touch.
