It would not be a celebration at Walt Disney World without themed treats and Earth Day 2018 is no exception. April 22, 2018 not only marks the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it also is the kick off to the Party for the Planet celebration that will run until May 5, 2018.
Party for the Planet is Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s annual Earth Day celebration and this year there is even more fun than ever. From April 22 – May 5 guest can enjoy many special events going on throughout the park including face painting, animal care experts, educational activities, kick off party in front of the Tree of Life on April 22, unique PhotoPass opportunities, limited merchandise, special Wilderness Explorers Badge location, Rafiki’s Planet Watch backstage experiences, specialty foods and so much more!
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom you will find two specialty cupcakes. The Tree of Life Cupcake is a vanilla cupcake topped with buttercream and an edible chocolate piece and will be available at Creature Comforts and Flame Tree Barbecue. The Earth Day Cupcake is a chocolate cupcake topped with buttercream, white chocolate crispy pearls, white chocolate mousse, and an edible chocolate piece and will be available at Pizzafari and Restaurantosaurus.
If you are not into the sweet treats and a savory menu is more your style you will find two items that might tempt your taste buds. Nomad Lounge will offer Impossible™ Burger Sliders with tomato chutney and smoked onion on a brioche bun and served with yucca fries and Restaurantosaurus will offer the Impossible™ Burger with avocado and tomato on a brioche bun. Two plant-based burgers that look delicious!
Tiffins will also serve a 20th anniversary Chef’s Lunch Tasting menu daily from 11:30am to 3:30pm. This specialty spread will feature a 3 course tasting menu inspired by the tastes of Africa, Asia, and South America.
The Earth Day treats will not be limited to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will also be found at other select locations across the Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will feature a specialty Earth Day “garden” themed cupcake at Roaring Fork from April 19-22. This chocolate edible “garden” is a masterpiece that is filled with cookies and cream filling and topped with vanilla buttercream, cookies and cream crumble and chocolate “rocks”.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Earth Day Cupcake will only be available on April 22 at Contempo Cafe. This chocolate cupcake is filled with chocolate pastry cream, chocolate buttercream, and chocolate cookie crumble and topped with a buttercream flower and a chocolate Earth Day sign that is served in an edible flower pot!
If you are by Disney’s Yacht or Disney’s Beach Club resorts make sure you head over to the Beach Club Marketplace or the Market at Ale & Compass for their Earth Day Cupcake. From April 19-22 you can enjoy a “dirt and worms” chocolate cupcake filled with chocolate pudding and topped with chocolate buttercream, cookie crumbs, sugar flower, and jelly candy ‘worms.’
Finally, Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs will feature a “cactus” lollipop that is made up of three French macarons filled with pistachio ganache and topped with icing.
