More to The Magic Kingdom: My experience of playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

My husband and I travelled to Walt Disney World for the first time to celebrate Halloween 2016 and our anniversary! I have so far visited Disneyland Paris, Disneyland, CA, so it was a real treat to be able to come to WDW for such a special occasion. While we are a big fan of the rides, shops and general experience, an added bonus was to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom – a free, interactive game that can be played throughout the Magic Kingdom park.

We turned up at the Firehouse in Town Square to collect our first set of cards and we were given a fun tutorial on how the game worked. At the end of the tutorial we were given the clue to find our first portal, which began the first quest. We were even provided with a map from the lovely Firehouse cast member.

At first, the portals can be a little tricky to track down. We started playing in the evening, which seemed to be a good time as we only met a couple of others playing the game. Throughout our visit we played at all different times and the early afternoon tended to be the busiest. We frequently waited for 15-20 minutes at portals during the day, so if you are not keen on waiting around I would recommend playing after dinner.

Each morning we visited the Firehouse to collect new cards (a great keepsake from our WDW adventures!) and headed off to complete the next quest. Over the first few days, we played a lot and managed to complete the whole game in a short time. But this doesn’t mean the game is over! After a further trip to the Firehouse, we levelled up and headed out on more quests. This next level was much harder and took considerably longer to complete. In terms of gam play, leveling up is definitely great for teenagers or adults with no children, but if you are traveling with young children maybe just stick to the first level.

One downside was that some of the portals didn’t seem to register the cards. There was one in particularly at the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade that a lot of people were having trouble with and this has even been pointed out by Addy on her Pictaram Club page. Not to worry though! If you don’t pass a stage of the quest, the game will bounce you to another portal and allow you to continue on.

We had a lot of fun playing and were so excited to be able to pick up a special ‘Halloween’ edition card at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. We also loved trading the cards with the cast member at the Firehouse, so we didn’t come home with many doubled up cards either!

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is definitely a fun game for kids and adults alike!
