Today, February 2, marks the 25th anniversary of one of Walt Disney World’s most picturesque resorts, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. The resort opened its doors on February 2, 1992 under the name Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort and changed to its current name on April 1, 2001 when it merged with its neighbor, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside currently has 2,048 rooms in two unique areas, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. Alligator Bayou brings you to the bayou area of rural Southern Louisiana and feature buildings that look like rustic cottages. The Magnolia Bend area of the resort features elegant mansions that resemble those found on southern plantations. The rooms are so seamlessly blended into the architecture of the buildings that you will really feel like you are in the bayou or staying in a mansion.
The resort also features great dining at Boatwright’s Dining Hall, the Riverside Mill Food Court, River Roost and the Muddy River Pool Bar. Don’t forget to visit YeeHa Bob at the River Roost!
