The Great Movie Ride is located at the end of Hollywood Boulevard inside the beautiful replica of the Chinese Theatre.  Once hidden by Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat, the Chinese Theatre is now in full view as you enter Hollywood Studios.  This iconic Hollywood Studios attraction is a 20 minute slow moving ride through some of greatest movies of all time with some realistic  special effects and audio-animatronics.  After walking through the queue that includes some Hollywood memorabilia as well as a pre-show that includes clips from classic films.  You will next board a large ride vehicle that will take you through the such film sets as Mary Poppins, Tarzan, Alien, The Wizard of Oz and Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Your trip through Hollywood will end with a set of clips from classic movies before you exit the attraction.  The Great Movie Ride originally opened up on May 1, 1989 and received a mini-update in 2015 when Turner Classic Movies (TCM) took over as sponsor.  The updates included TCM branding, a new version of the pre-show and post-show and TCM host Robert Osborne as the attractions narrator.  In our opinion this is a must do attraction while you are visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  FastPass+ is available for The Great Movie Ride but is not always needed.

Touring Tips

• Typically the longest stand by lines occur in the morning due to its location.  If you do not have a FastPass+ reservation for The Great Movie Ride head over to the attraction mid to late day for minimal lines.
