Dumbo the Flying Elephant is located in the Storybook Circus part of New Fantasyland and had its grand opening on December 6, 2012 but it has been a staple in Fantasyland since Magic Kingdom’s opening day October 1, 1971.  As part of the New Fantasyland expansion, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, moved from its original location in Fantasyland to Storybook Circus and it doubled in size!  Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a traditional “spinner” type ride.  Your ride vehicle is an actual elephant that you sit in.  When the ride begins you can control the up and down motion of the elephant as you spin.  The ride lasts about 1 and a half minutes.  Dumbo also features and indoor interactive waiting area.  When you arrive a cast member hands you a “pager” similar to one you might get at a restaurant.  After you enter the beautifully themed “circus” area that has fun interactive play areas to enjoy while you wait.  Once your pager goes off you head into a short line to get one the ride.  Most kids really enjoy this area and some don’t even want to leave!  FastPass+ is available but in most cases you probably won’t need it.  The interactive waiting or queue area is an attraction in itself which makes the wait time very enjoyable for everyone.

Touring Tips

• Make sure you experience Dumbo at night as the attraction is lit up beautifully.
